MAIA MACKENZIE

Breathe. Listen. Be.

A sacred space compassionately, and intelligently designed to inspire you on this transformative journey we move through one breath, one moment at a time. Sharing with you yogic offering, tools, workshops and stories gathered and designed from my studies and heart. In service to support your growth, re-wilding, unwinding, and re-wiring, no matter what stage you are at, where you are from or what your story is.

As is above as is below. The body is the microcosm of the cosmic macrocosm.

- Shiva Samhita

About Me

Maia Mackenzie is an International Yoga Alliance 550hr E-RYT and has been practicing yoga from the age of 14. As many of us experience, Yoga presented to Maia at a time of complete cross road and acted as a gentle yet thorough guidance, moving her in a more conscious, aligned direction. Yoga illuminated a pathway to get out of her mind and into her life. Maia interweaves the elemental forces i.e. (earth, water, fire, air) in her classes, honouring the cyclical being that we are. Through out the years Maia has completed multiple trainings in Vinyasa, Elemental Vinyasa and Mandala Vinyasa from the roots and lineage of Prana Vinyasa with her root teacher Shiva Rae. Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Myofascial Release, Somatic & Trauma Informed and embodied alignment with specific refinements in Pranayama and Meditation. In 2017, Maia made the conscious decision to listen to her heart, leave her home Colorado and move abroad to deepen her studies and teachings of the ancient tools of Yoga philosophy, Asana practice, the power of Mantra and the importance of meditation finding herself completely immersed in self care & the subtle realms. Maia is passionate about teaching the essence of what yoga really is - beyond the physical postures. Her teaching is rooted in personal inquiry, deep presence and a love for movement medicine with the intention of pointing you in the direction what is required each time you step on the mat. Guiding asana as dynamic containers to explore the healing effects of breath as a remembrance of our essential intelligence. Her offerings are tools and techniques to show you, everything you need is within you. From a young age the potent truth of Yoga spoke more profoundly to her then any other path - so as she grows in her practice and in her teachings, she chooses to constantly remind you that were all in this together, there is no hierarchy, there is no separation. You are just as much her teacher, as she may be yours.

What People are Saying -

“Asana, breath, stillness, contemplation, movement, sound, joy - being guided by Maia. A deeply soulful and wholesome journey that feels all encapsulating and takes you to your inner authentic self. It is a true gift that Maia brings to a space and I feel blessed to, at times, be lucky enough to share the same space in time. Always looking forward to the next moment, thank you for you.”

The Art of Slow

THE ART OF SLOW embraces the subtle, unconscious information downloaded when we slow down and move from a space of form to formless. Dissolving the doing, the thinking, the achieving. Nature moves from its own design and we are derived from the natural world. Allowing our nervous system to unwind, to listen, sense and feel into all the places in our bodies and in our lives that require our attention & nourishment. Syncing our breath to movement to receive the flow of Prana as our divine life force, to savour in our living existence, in the here, in the now, so we don’t miss it. So we don’t miss the moment of our lives!

Yogic Offerings

  • Vinyasa Flow (Prana Vinyasa), Elemental Vinyasa Flow

    Connected with intention

A practice of moving meditation. Smooth, flowing sequences layered to suit you and your unique body. Dynamic sequences build somatic awareness and muscle strength, physical stamina and coordination, balance, and a deeper breath-body connection. Through each practice is an immersion into the 5 elements. From the living lineage of Shiva Rae and Prana Vinyasa.

Experience with movement practices or other styles of yoga can be helpful, but not essential.

  • Yin Yoga

A slow, grounding practice that invites you to soften, surrender, and listen within. In Yin we stay in postures for several minutes, allowing the body to open gently and the deeper layers of fascia and connective tissues to unwind. Through stillness and breathe, the nervous system relaxes, energy begins to flow freely again, and the mind finds space to rest.

  • Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a form of yogic "sleep." While remaining aware and awake, the mind and body can slip into a deep and tranquil space.

    A massage for your mind.

Theta: meditative, light sleep, increased creativity, decreased stress & anxiety. Delta: deep sleep, rejuvenation, memory, healing, reduced inflammation.

Optimal to unwind, rest and to restore ease in your being.
